This year, our organization will be assisting Transitional Programs for Women. They provide assistance to women and children that are leaving
abuse situations. Services they offer include, housing, childcare, job training, and schooling for children. It is
a fabulous organization that we should all be proud to help support. Next time you are out shopping, please grab a
few items from their wish list to help these women and children. Here is an overview of their services:
The Transitional Living Center provides services to women with children in a residential setting.
Sixteen 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments are the core of this supportive housing program.
Here women transition from homelessness with the assistance of a family support advocate.
Weekly meetings, group activities and a supportive staff all help these women learn how to
make it on their own. Families can stay up to two years while learning the skills for independent
successful living.
EduCare, located on site of the Transitional Living Center offers low cost therapeutic childcare to
the women who make TLC their home. It provides a stable, nurturing environment for the children
where they learn to get along with others and express their feelings in an appropriate manner. A
well trained staff also helps the mothers with their parenting skills.
Miryam’s House is a residential program for women without children. Each woman has a room of
her own and the support of a caring staff. Meals are shared. Living here for up to one year allows
homeless women to get back on track in a supportive environment.
The Women’s Hearth is a warm, welcoming day center in the city core. Here women can seek
shelter from the streets, connect with services, take a shower, learn something new, express themselves through the arts or connect via the computer lab. Truly there is something for everyone.
